Marilyn Kay Caban

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Faith Baptist Church, Harrisonville, MO starting with visitation for family and friends at 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Following the service, the family will honor her request that a cremation occur and that her ashes be returned to the place she most loved in the Forsyth/Branson area.

While Kay's dream was to be a lawyer, at the urging of her father, she chose education as her lifelong profession. She was an avid debate champion in high school and college. Her reasoning was solid and delivery impeccable. Anyone who knew her, knew this to be true. It is likely this reason, plus her incredible intelligence, that she was so successful in the education field. Serving in many roles from high school teacher, to elementary principal, to administration and Special Education Director…there was little she couldn't do in the education field, but her legacy was in the love and compassion she showed for the kids that were too spirited, not academically inclined, or abused. If they found their way to her, she would always welcome them with open arms, much as I imagine our Heavenly Father welcomed her when she showed up at Heaven's gates.

Kay was taught by her parents from a young age to love the Lord and follow His teachings. She was active in her faith and followed the Word closely in her very giving nature. Kay was a Christian, a mother, sister, a friend and one of those people who blessed you by just being in her world. From the smallest things, homemade trinkets, Christmas ornaments, or maybe just a call to let you know she was praying for you and thinking of you, you knew you were loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Eugene Boeth and Virginia Ruth Boeth.

Among survivors are her daughter, Shelley Losito of Townsend, Delaware; son, James Troy Caban and Yusong of Daejeon, South Korea; and son, David Caban of Jefferson City, Missouri. She is also survived by her three sisters, Linda Parks and Kenneth of Clinton, Missouri; Kathy Allison and Randy of Des Moines, Iowa; Terry Aldrige and Richard of Belton, Missouri; and her brother, Rick Boeth and Debbie of Belton, Missouri. Also thriving are her grandkids, Vinny and Reagan, Logan and Emilie, and Hyanbeol and Arah. Among other survivors are those kids she claimed as her own over the years, from elementary to high school, and even a few adults who acted like kids, but she loved nonetheless.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations in any amount to fund a scholarship for a high school special education student to be donated in Kay's name.
