She is survived by her sister Barbara Williams of Raytown, Missouri, sister Deb Haggerty of York, Pennsylvania, son Ken Smith of Ponte Vedra, Florida, son Don Smith of Blue Springs, Missouri, daughter Jacki Wyrick of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and daughter Pam Gonzales of Raymore, Missouri. Pat had 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren of whom she loved tremendously.
Pat was born on July 17, 1935 in her grandparent’s house in Princeton, Missouri. She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She worked in the car business from 1965 to 2007 where she retired from Jay Wolfe Acura. She loved cars and would only buy them brand new. Her first one being a 1955 Chevy.
In addition to her love of cars, Pat loved her Kansas City Royals. She went to the first opening day at Kauffman Stadium in 1969 and was a season ticket holder from 1978 to 2018. She enjoyed taking her children and grandchildren to the games. She celebrated her 80th birthday in a suite bought for her by her family to thank her for all the games she had taken them to.
There won’t be a Memorial Service, however, July 23, 2022 the family will have a closed ceremony in the Frank White Suite at Kauffman Stadium to celebrate Pat’s life and her love of taking her family to the game. The family is calling it Pat Smart’s Day at the K.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Foxwood Springs for the love and care they gave to their mom in the last few years of her life. In lieu of flowers they would like donations made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
