Roy D. Taylor, passed away on February 20, 2025, at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, Missouri. Born on March 20, 1954, in Smithville, Missouri, Roy led a life characterized by hard work, and dedication.
Roy devoted over 30 years of his life to his career as an over-the-road truck driver, a vocation he took pride in until his retirement at the age of 62. An individual of great integrity, Roy embodied the spirit of service. He graduated high school at 18 and then enlisted in the military where he spent time stationed in Germany, Kansas, and Texas.
Roy’s interests reflected his spirited personality. He was an avid fan of baseball and football, proudly supporting the 49ers and, with a twinkle in his eye, cheering for the Chiefs during their winning seasons. His enthusiasm extended to NASCAR, showcasing a love for thrill and competition.
Roy is survived by his son, Shannon Dale, his sister, Susan Lynch, several nieces, nephews, family and friends, all of whom will carry forward his legacy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noel and Stella (Gannaway) Taylor, and by his siblings: Robert Taylor, Junior Taylor, Judy Swope, Donna Roach, and granddaughter Amber Dawn.
A service to honor his memory will be held on March 11, 2025, at Higginsville Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. The interment will commence at 11:00 AM, giving family and friends an opportunity to gather and celebrate a life well-lived.
Roy D. Taylor will be remembered not just for his accomplishments but for the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. His spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew him.
